Transport Epithelia Epithelia are a sheet of cells that line almost all body surfaces (skin, intestine, lung, body cavities), form the functional units of secretory glands, and line the inner surface of blood and lymphatic vessels.

Epithelium. Epithelium (/ ˌ ɛ p ɪ ˈ θ iː l i ə m /) is one of the four basic types of animal tissue, along with connective tissue, muscle tissue and nervous tissue.

Cholangiocyte. Cholangiocytes are the epithelial cells of the bile duct. They are cuboidal epithelium in the small interlobular bile ducts, but become columnar and mucus secreting in larger bile ducts approaching the porta hepatis and the extrahepatic ducts.
